COVER ART SERVICES

A cover is the first impression your book makes on its readers. Many self-published and independent authors don't have the resources or graphic knowledge to create cover art for electronic or print books, and many cover artists charge exorbitant fees most authors won't make back on their sales.

I offer reasonably priced cover art for the independent author or small press. Many designs can be seen on the covers at JMS Books LLC, but a few are provided here as a sample of the work I do:


I don't hand-draw my covers, but I do use stock images from a variety of sites and go out of my way to ensure I select the best image possible to convey your book's theme and mood. Covers can be provided in a variety of high-resolution JPEG images as well as multi-layer PSD or PDF files, or single layer PDF files, depending upon your needs.

PRICING

While I am flexible about revisions, please note I will only create 2 mock-up covers per book. If we can't decide on a design by then, perhaps I'm not the right artist for your work.

• Front Cover only: $50
• Perfect for e-books.
• Cover created at 300 DPI (print resolution), 2000 pixels x 3000 pixels in size (6" x 9").
• Cover will include 1 non-exclusive stock image to be purchased by me. Author can provide links to sample images which would work or can purchase and provide own image (author must obtain full rights for any image used).
• Cover includes book title, subtitle or series name (if appropriate), and author name.
• After an initial consultation, I will provide a mock-up cover. If the author is unsatisfied, I will provide a second mock-up using a different image, design, and layout. No more than 2 mock-ups will be created.
• Author may offer suggestions/changes, and a final mock-up incorporating those will be sent.
• Payment is expected via PayPal when mock-up is approved. Cover will be completed and file(s) in the author's choice of formats will be forwarded within 24 hours of receipt of payment.


• Wrap-around Cover: $75
• Perfect for print books.
• Front cover will be made in accordance with the guidelines above, except the cover size will depend upon the print book specifications provided by the author.
• I will use any template provided to create a wrap-around cover (front, back, and spine). Covers can be created as PSD or INDD files and will be saved as a single-layer PDF file for easy uploading.
• Back cover includes at minimum book title and sales blurb. Author may also choose to include additional information such as review blurbs or author bio, if room allows.
• For books greater than 150 pages in length, the spine includes the book title and author name. For books less than 150 pages in length, no spine text will be used.
• Payment is expected via PayPal when mock-up is approved. Cover will be completed and file(s) in the author's choice of formats will be forwarded within 24 hours of receipt of payment.


• Additional Images: $15 each
• If the author wishes to incorporate several different image files into the cover, each image will cost an additional $15.

My prices include 1 stock photo. Many authors don't understand how pricing at stock sites work, but basically if your image costs more than 20 credits for a large size (at least 1500 pixels along one side), I will have to charge accordingly. If you provide links to images you'd like to use, I will consult with you regarding any use restrictions, probable design problems, or possible price increases before any actual design work has begun.

No payment is made before you approve the mock-up cover.
